A big focus with the reintroduction of the City Open was to bring back the social side to curling. It was great to see all teams joining their opposition for drinks after games, and the rink busy on Friday evening whilst everyone enjoyed live music.
Thanks to everyone who came along to the Dutch Mill on Saturday evening. It was great to see so many of the teams there and still making it to the rink on Sunday morning for the final round robin games!!

2020 Aberdeen City Open Champions

Huge congratulations to Team Van Dorp who visited Aberdeen for game time, winning the comp they have entered many times previously for the first time. They brought over team mates with them as the competition struggled for entries this year, and we thank them for that, the make shift team qualified out their group also finishing fourth overall.

Team Barr (Kinross) qualified out their section unbeaten to make the final against van Dorp. Barr put pressure on van Dorp in the final with some great draws, but for Grant Jaap and his team edged them running them out of stones in the eight end.

Team Woolston, former champions of the City Open finished third beating team Magan in the 3/4 playoff. This was in preparation for them as they head to Dumfries for their national championships.

This year the City open had 16 teams from Norway, Netherlands, England and Aberdeen, next year 24 is our target, so spread the word and help us get back to 24 teams, and who knows the Horses might be back for it.

If anyone has any leads or would like to sponsor this great competition, please get in touch.

Cheers

Stuart
